Description

Transform your stall cleaning routine into a truly luxurious experience by making the switch to all-natural Premium Hemp Bedding. This superior bedding solution offers unmatched comfort and absorption for your horse, while also providing a safe and natural alternative to traditional options like pine and straw bedding.

At our farm, we are passionate advocates for Hemp Bedding, and for good reason. Our bedding not only boasts high-end quality, softness, and color but also prioritizes cleanliness and eco-friendliness. We take pride in sourcing our hemp from North American farmers, contributing to cost savings for barns and customers and supporting local agriculture.

When it comes to implementing hemp bedding, we recommend applying at least 3-6 inches in horse stalls to ensure maximum comfort and absorption. What sets hemp bedding apart is its unique ability to continue absorbing into its core and maintaining its shape when saturated, simplifying the cleaning process. This means you can spot clean and replenish as needed, without the hassle of a complete stall strip-out, ultimately extending the longevity of your bedding compared to other alternatives.

Not only is disposing of hemp bedding hassle-free, as it can be composted or integrated directly into the soil, but it also stands out as an environmentally friendly choice due to its lack of special composting requirements to break down acids and tannins.

In addition to horses, hemp bedding is a versatile option for cattle, swine, and poultry farms, as well as indoor pets like rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, and guinea pigs. When used in chicken coops, it effectively absorbs moisture, ensuring the birds stay dry and comfortable, and can be cleaned out weekly, making it an excellent addition to compost.

What makes our hemp bedding the best choice is our commitment to high-end quality, softness, color, and cleanliness. Our tumbling and screen processing eliminates dust, ensuring an unlimited supply and availability for our customers.

What you need to get started:

  • One bale has a useable volume of 150 Liters (5.2 Cubic Feet)
  • Setting up a new stall (~12×12) with soft or rubber flooring: On average, customers apply 3-6 inches of bedding on the floor to ensure comfort and absorption. If the stalls are equipped with rubber mats, you may be able to go with less bedding.
  • Depending on the horse and the amount of stall time, add new bedding as needed. You no longer need to strip stalls weekly.
  • You don’t need to use the same volume of hemp bedding as you would with regular wood bedding. Less is more!

Here are the key points to remember regarding hemp bedding:

Amount:

Horses – Cover the area with at least 3-6 inches of hemp bedding for horse stalls. For continued usage, spot clean and replenish with small amounts as needed. Hemp bedding will continue to absorb urine and will not break down, allowing for longer use between stall cleanings.

Chickens, rabbits, goats, and other animals – Cover the area appropriately, spot clean, and replenish as needed. Hemp bedding will last longer than alternatives and capture odors deeply. Some users prefer lightly dampening the bedding with water to activate its absorption.

Cleaning:

– Hemp bedding retains its shape when saturated, making it easy to spot, clean, and replenish without entirely stripping the stall. It lasts longer than other alternatives as it absorbs into its core, maintaining a drier outer feel.

(URINE) You do not need to remove the urine-soaked shavings. Sift and overturn the urine-soaked shavings; the urine will come in contact with the air, and you will visibly notice the urine absorption by the hemp shavings. Mixing dry shavings with urine-soaked shavings in wet areas may help speed up absorption.

(NUGGETS) Take your rake and pick up the nuggets. You’ll want to shake the rake as much as possible, as the hemp shavings will not stick to the nuggets. Doing this will preserve more hemp shavings in your stall.

Disposal:

– Hemp hurd is tannin-free, has a neutral pH, and can be composted or worked directly into the soil. Unlike most wood shavings, it does not require composting to break down acids and tannins. Hemp bedding can also be disposed of with regular waste.

FARM USAGE:

Our equine farms are making the switch! Take your boarding experience to the next level of care! This option is also great for cattle, swine, and chicken farms. A little more setup may be involved, but your ongoing costs decrease!

INDOOR PETS:

Great for indoor pets like rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, and guinea pigs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much hemp bedding is in the bag that you sell?

The bags of hemp bedding that we carry are 33 lbs. each.

Will Hemp Bedding test positive for show horses?

No. Hemp bedding has all the oil (the good stuff) stripped out before it's made. Therefore, it will NOT drug test if your horse eats or just sleeps on it, making it a safe option for competition animals.

Is the bedding good for respiratory health?

Yes. Horses can normally only breathe through their nostrils since their nasal passages are separate from their mouth. Dust, pollens, and other irritants can inflame a horse’s nasal passages and cause health risks that you, as a horse owner, do NOT want to deal with! Ensuring your horse breathes clean, dust-free air as much as possible can make a massive difference to the lung health of your horses. We offer hemp bedding as a dust-free and absorbent alternative to traditional shavings. The hemp bedding promotes cleaner and healthier air, saving time and money while benefiting the environment.

What's the easiest way to clean my stall?

When removing "horse nuggets" (manure), use a rake to pick them up. Shake the rake as much as possible to preserve more hemp shavings in your stall. Shake out the manure and save as much of your nice hemp shavings as possible to maintain a soft and absorbent stall. You do not need to remove the urine-soaked shavings. Sift and overturn the urine-soaked shavings; the urine will come in contact with the air, and you will visibly notice the urine absorption by the hemp shavings. Mixing dry shavings with urine-soaked shavings in wet areas may help speed up absorption.

Can urine soaked bedding be dried and re-used?

Yes. You can reuse urine-soaked shavings by sifting and overturning them to allow the urine to come in contact with the air. You will visibly notice the absorption of the urine by the hemp shavings. It may be helpful to mix dry hemp shavings in very wet areas with urine-soaked shavings to speed up absorption. They will dry in the air and can be used again.

Can I use the hemp bedding in my compost?

Yes! Hemp bedding works great in any compost.

Could your chicken coop benefit from Hemp Bedding?

Yes. Since Hemp Bedding absorbs four times the amount, your birds stay dry longer. Dampness can affect chickens' respiratory health and even their feet. Hemp has a 400% absorption content compared to 250% and 125% for wood and straw. Hemp soaks moisture like a sponge, making it ideal bedding for chickens.

How much hemp bedding will I need for my chicken coop?

It depends on the size of your coop. In general, one 33-lb. bag of hemp bedding will cover the floor of a chicken coop measuring 8 x 6 feet.

How often will I need to clean out the hemp bedding in my chicken coop?

That depends on the number of chickens you have and the size of your coop. I like to keep a kitty litter scoop in my coop. I use the kitty litter scoop to scoop out any poop weekly. We replace the hemp bedding in the chicken coop at least once a month.

We thought we would try this for our ducks, chickens, goats. This works great. Didn’t clean the buildings out near as much as we have had to. Absorbs a lot of moisture and it’s very easy to scoop up when needed to clean out. Goes well in the compost, takes up so much less space. I recommend trying this product.

Thank you so very much for sharing your experience! We appreciate it and are glad you and your animals are enjoying it!

  2. Catty S.

This bedding is the best on the market! All of our horses (and us) love it. Our cleaner horses can keep 4 bags (in 12×12 stalls) clean for 30 days before we have to add more. Our messy/wetter horses usually need a bag added a week earlier. In addition to it being great bedding for the horses it’s amazing compost! My brother owns a nursery and the compost made by the hemp bedding has been way better for all his plants. I highly recommend everyone to try the hemp bedding it’s a life savor for all!!
